Senior Management Accountant duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of a Senior Management Accountant include: Leading the budgeting and forecasting cycles across business units Preparing monthly management reports with analysis of variances and financial trendsPartnering with senior stakeholders across New Zealand to provide financial guidanceDeveloping and maintaining financial models to support strategic planningMonitoring cost drivers and identifying opportunities for efficiency and margin improvementManaging month-end close activities and ensuring accuracy of financial dataEnsuring compliance with NZ IFRS and IRD requirements including GST, FBT, and PAYESupporting internal controls, governance frameworks, and audit readinessMentoring junior finance team members and contributing to capability developmentDriving continuous improvement of management reporting and planning processes

Senior Management Accountant job qualifications and requirements

A degree in accounting or finance and full membership with CA ANZ or CPA Australia is required.Requirements include:5+ years’ experience in management accounting or commercial finance rolesProven ability to deliver insights from complex financial dataStrong proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g. SAP, Xero, MYOB) and advanced Excel modellingIn-depth knowledge of NZ IFRS, budgeting processes, and IRD complianceExcellent stakeholder engagement and communication skillsExperience influencing senior decision-makers with evidence-based recommendations
