Solutions Architect duties and responsibilities of the job

Key responsibilities of a Solutions Architect include:Designing end-to-end solutions that integrate applications, infrastructure, and data componentsCollaborating with stakeholders to define technical requirements and translate them into architectural designsEnsuring solutions comply with New Zealand regulations, including the NZ Privacy Act and ISO 27001 standardsProviding architectural leadership across project lifecycles from concept to deploymentCreating and maintaining solution architecture documentation and governance artefactsAdvising on system integrations, cloud adoption, and platform modernisation strategiesAssessing technology risks and ensuring solutions meet security, scalability, and performance needsWorking with vendors and internal teams to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and business goalsSupporting agile delivery teams by providing design guidance and technical oversight

Solutions Architect job qualifications and requirements

A degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required. Certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect are advantageous.Requirements include:7+ years’ experience in systems or solutions architecture rolesProven experience designing complex, enterprise-grade technology solutionsStrong knowledge of integration patterns, cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS), and data security principlesFamiliarity with New Zealand-specific compliance frameworks, including the NZ Privacy Act and ISO 27001Excellent stakeholder management and communication skillsAbility to lead design workshops and translate business needs into technical solutions
