Technical writers prepare content for instruction manuals and how-to guides, including processes and procedures; journal articles; and other publications to communicate complex and technical information more easily, often using visual elements like diagrams, drawings and charts. These professionals, by developing an appreciation of end users’ needs, may also be asked to help improve product designs in the prototype stage. This role requires strong writing, research and analytical skills. A bachelor’s degree in communications or a tech-related discipline may be required. Several years of experience and knowledge of the topic at hand also may be preferred.
