Develops and directs programs to ensure employees understand and support the company’s goals, plans and culture in all aspects of their work. Often serves as strategic, consultative partner with one or more departments or business units. Evaluates company policies and practices, and identifies and implements strategies to advance the objectives of the organization or department — for example, in the areas of recruitment, workforce retention, staff performance and professional development, succession planning, and risk management. Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as are strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Some employers may require a degree in human resources or related field and several years of relevant experience.
