Our client in Edmonton is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join their team on a contract basis. The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for various accounting and clerical tasks related to the maintenance and processing of financial records, as well as daily data entry and administrative duties. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with NetSuite software and intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining and updating financial records, including sales invoices, receipts, and payments
- Support all aspects of accounts payable and receivable processes
- Manage monthly payroll and other related financial transactions
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly financial reports
- Compliance with organizational standards to ensure accurate financial data
- Collaborative work with the accounting team to improve financial procedures
- Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts
- Ad-hoc duties as requested
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting or relevant field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Accounting Assistant
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Docuware preferred
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, specifically with formulas and functions
- Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet tight deadlines
- Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles
