We are looking for an experienced Director of Finance to oversee all financial operations of a municipal organization in South Carolina. This position is critical in ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing budgets, and providing strategic financial advice to leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to implement effective policies and guide the financial team in achieving organizational goals. Responsibilities:• Lead and manage all accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, fixed assets, and grant management.• Provide expert financial advice and recommendations to the Town Administrator to support decision-making.• Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry best practices.• Supervise and audit the work of financial staff to maintain adherence to accounting standards.• Coordinate the preparation and development of the annual operating and capital budget.• Oversee the accurate recording of financial transactions, including assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenditures.• Monitor departmental budgets and expenditures, recommending adjustments to optimize the use of resources.• Reconcile general ledger accounts, as well as bank and credit card accounts on a monthly basis.• Prepare journal entries for month-end processes, including interest, depreciation, and other adjustments.• Ensure timely completion of payroll reports for federal, state, unemployment, and retirement purposes.
