The ideal candidate will have <strong>6+ years of experience handling landlord-tenant matters in New York City including cooperative landlord-tenant matters and be adept at managing multiple cases, preparing legal documents, conducting legal research, and supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation. </strong>This role includes performing ad hoc assignments as needed to support the firm's evolving needs.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>Responsibilities:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Draft and revise legal documents, including Notices to Cure, Notices of Default, Rent Demands, Petitions, Stipulations of Settlement, Rent Demands, and legal correspondence.</li><li>Draft and revise real estate documents such as contracts of sale, riders, leases, and closing statements.</li><li>Proofread and ensure the accuracy of all legal filings before submission.</li><li>Coordinate court filings and e-filings using NYSCEF, ensuring compliance with legal deadlines.</li><li>Liaise with process servers, court clerks, etc. to ensure timely and accurate filings.</li><li>Communicate directly with clients and coordinate with lenders.</li><li>Assist attorneys in preparing for trials and administrative hearings by organizing exhibits, witness lists, and case summaries. Attend court proceedings as needed.</li><li>Conduct thorough legal research using LexisNexis and Westlaw. Stay updated on changes in NY landlord-tenant laws, particularly in relation to coops, including Mitchell-Lama’s.</li><li>Ad-hoc duties as needed.</li></ul><p><br></p>
