The Accounting manager is an experienced and strategic professional, responsible for assisting in the completion of key accounting and financial operations of our family-owned transportation company. As a key member of the finance and accounting functions, the manager will assist the Controller in the completion of the accounting and financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining internal controls, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting• Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and other applicable regulations.• Preparation of weekly profit plan reporting and other management reporting, as applicable.• Support the Controller and CFO with ad-hoc financial analysis.Tax Reporting• Assistance in the facilitation of the 3rd party tax preparer to ensure timely and accurate filing of all corporate tax returns and ensure adherence to all tax regulations and requirements.• Prepare and assist with timely and accurate filings of all sales/use, IFTA and related tax returns across applicable jurisdictions.Accounting Operations• Assistance in establishing and maintaining strong internal control systems to safeguard the organization’s assets, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies.• Aid in the financial close processes, ensuring all general ledger accounts are timely reconciled and supported.• In partnership with the Controller, coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings.Budget & Forecasting• In tandem with the CFO and Controller, assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with senior management to align financial plans with business objectives.Accounts Receivable• Aid in monitoring and analyzing accounts receivable metrics (DSO, aging reports, cash forecasting) to drive performance improvements.Accounts Payable• Aid of monitoring and analyzing accounts payable metrics (e.g., Days Payable Outstanding (DPO), aging reports, discount utilization, and cash outflows) to identify trends, improve efficiency, and support cash management strategies.Other• Implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows and enhance reporting accuracy.Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation preferred.• 4+ years of accounting experience (3+ years of public accounting experience, preferred)• Experience in a multi-entity, or multi-location business preferred.
