    Our client is seeking a Purchasing Category Manager to lead the development and execution of their supply chain strategy through the use of sourcing and procurement disciplines, effective collaboration, and communication. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to develop suppliers and solutions that meet the client's supply chain needs. The Purchasing Category Manager will be responsible for managing more complex and challenging categories, such as services, which may require regional solutions.

    Job Duties:

    • Manage more complex and challenging categories, including services, by developing deep knowledge of assigned categories and creating sourcing strategies that consider market trends, business objectives, full supply chain, and total cost of ownership.
    • Provide mentorship to other Sourcing & Procurement team members while contributing to the organization’s approach to supply chain management.
    • Influence purchasing behavior by ensuring that established suppliers meet performance expectations, data requirements, and procurement strategies. Build solutions that make valuable supply partnerships available to stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and pursue product and service opportunities, including product standardization and process efficiency improvements.
    • Lead cross-functional sourcing efforts, including RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs, ensuring alignment with business objectives and effective communication across teams.
    • Negotiate agreements with key suppliers, taking into account cost, terms of supply, service, and quality to foster successful partnerships.
    • Analyze product/service and procurement costs to develop cost-reduction strategies and improve overall value.
    • Assist in process development and the implementation of supplier onboarding into the client's Procurement Platform, overseeing activities like data cleansing, process standardization, and catalog content creation.
    • Ensure the successful implementation of sourced products, services, and supplier programs through sound project and change management practices.
    • Manage supplier performance with a focus on total value, including quality, service responsiveness, process efficiency, and cost. Solicit feedback from team members on supplier performance.
    • Identify and escalate critical external relationships that could impact the supply chain, planning, or decision-making processes.
    • Ensure compliance with sourcing and procurement policies and best practices.
    • Lead the design and implementation of effective and efficient procurement processes and tools.
    • Manage special projects as assigned, contributing to ongoing improvements and initiatives.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field (required).
    • At least 8 years of relevant sourcing and procurement experience in a non-automotive purchased service environment.

    • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems creatively and effectively, combined with superb leadership and communication skills.
