Our local non-profit organization, based in Durham, NC, is seeking a Content & Communications Manager to join our team onsite. This individual will have the unique opportunity to drive our communications efforts, create engaging content, and manage public relations and outreach initiatives that amplify the impact of our work. This role requires a storytelling expert who excels in written, verbal, and digital communication with an ability to adapt to various audiences and platforms.
As a key member of our team, the Content & Communications Manager will play a dynamic role in planning, executing, and evaluating communication strategies designed to raise awareness of our programs and further our mission.
- Content Creation: Develop, write, and produce high-quality content for diverse channels, including blogs, newsletters, social media, press releases, website updates, fundraising campaigns, and other communication materials to align with our mission and voice.
- Communications Strategy: Shape and execute a comprehensive communications plan to increase visibility, grow engagement, and connect with stakeholders locally and beyond.
- Social Media Management: Maintain and expand our social media presence. Plan and schedule posts, engage with followers, and monitor analytics to optimize strategies.
- Public Relations (PR): Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets to secure press coverage and advance our brand awareness in the community.
- Marketing Support: Partner with internal teams to support marketing efforts by creating promotional materials and messaging aimed at our target audiences.
- Consistency: Ensure all external and internal communications are consistent, timely, and on-brand with our mission and vision.
- Metrics Measurement: Track and analyze communications performance metrics to evaluate the success of campaigns and inform future strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in content creation, communications strategy, or related areas (non-profit experience a plus).
- Exceptional verbal, written, and editorial skills with a strong ability to craft compelling stories.
- Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and familiarity with tools for social scheduling and analytics (e.g., Hootsuite, Canva, Buffer).
- Knowledge of email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) and content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress.
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
