A leading San Francisco-based law firm is seeking an experienced Class Action Litigation Attorney to join their team on a contract basis. The firm represents clients in complex class action disputes involving consumer protection, employment, antitrust, data privacy, and securities litigation. This role offers an opportunity to handle all aspects of complex litigation, including early case assessment, motion practice, discovery, class certification proceedings, and trial preparation. The selected attorney will work on high-stakes, multi-party litigation matters, collaborating with a seasoned team of litigators to develop case strategies that shape California and federal class action law.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manage a caseload of complex class action matters, including consumer fraud, wage-and-hour, data privacy, and securities fraud cases.
    • Draft and argue substantive motions, including motions to dismiss, motions for class certification, and summary judgment motions.
    • Conduct extensive discovery, including document review, preparing discovery-related pleadings, and taking and defending depositions of key witnesses, experts, and corporate representatives.
    • Assist in class certification proceedings, including identifying class representatives, drafting certification motions, and responding to challenges from opposing counsel.
    • Work directly with corporate clients, plaintiff groups, and co-counsel to develop litigation strategy and assess case risks.
    • Prepare for trial, including jury instructions, trial exhibits, and witness preparation.
    • Engage in settlement negotiations, mediations, and court-supervised settlement conferences to resolve class action disputes.
    • Stay current on emerging trends in class action litigation, including California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) claims, wage-and-hour enforcement, and evolving federal class action standards.

    Qualifications

    • J.D. from an accredited law school and active California State Bar membership.
    • 5+ years of experience handling class action litigation, preferably in consumer protection, employment, securities, or antitrust.
    • Extensive experience with class certification proceedings and discovery-intensive litigation.
    • Strong oral advocacy skills, with experience handling court appearances, depositions, and settlement negotiations.
    • Ability to analyze large data sets and manage document-heavy cases using eDiscovery tools.
    • Experience working with expert witnesses in damages calculations, statistical modeling, or consumer surveys is a plus.
    • Ability to work on-site in San Francisco up to 5 days a week is highly preferred, but hybrid schedules may be considered for the right candidate.
