    We are seeking a highly qualified Subject Matter Expert (SME) in second-language acquisition with advanced proficiency in French and Spanish, to work across engineering, product management, and UX teams to develop and evaluate innovative language learning solutions for our client. You’ll play a pivotal role in advancing language learning metrics, product insights, and creating evidence-based strategies for proficiency assessment.

     

    Duration:         Permanent Position

    Start Date:       ASAP (Ideally before March 31, 2024)

    Remote:           Open to candidates nationally, though preference will be given to candidates who can align with US Pacific Time.

     

    Key Qualifications:

    • PhD in Linguistics, Second-Language Acquisition, Language Education, or a related field.
    • Advanced proficiency in French and Spanish (native in one and advanced in the other). Proficiency in Italian or Portuguese is a plus.
    • Expertise in language learning science, particularly with designing and evaluating proficiency metrics and language learning solutions.
    • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and UX teams to develop actionable insights.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills, with a proven ability to work in a team-oriented and remote environment.

     

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience in developing tools for second-language assessment or working with language education methodologies.
    • Familiarity with product testing, data analysis, and user feedback evaluation in a language learning or educational product context.
    • Comfortable collaborating in multidisciplinary teams and operating in fast-paced environments.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and UX teams to:
    • Develop, evaluate, and refine language learning metrics and proficiency systems.
    • Analyze effectiveness and provide data-driven insights into language product performance.
    • Leverage your language expertise to ensure product solutions align with best practices in second-language acquisition.
    • Participate in discussions around learner behavior and provide recommendations for improved educational outcomes.
    • Continuously assess project goals, usability, and user experience insights.

     

     

     

    • Proficiency in using Adobe Acrobat for document editing and management
    • Experience with creating and editing Banner Ads
    • Familiarity with Blue Book guidelines and standards
    • Knowledge of Capital IQ for financial market research
    • Experience with CCH Sales Tax, ensuring accurate tax calculations
    • Proficiency in using About Time for efficient project management
    • Excellent communication skills to convey and receive information effectively
    • Strong sense of compliance, ensuring adherence to rules and regulations
    • Familiarity with Consumer Electronics for product-specific proofreading
    • Exceptional customer service skills to accommodate client needs and feedback
    • Ability to develop and implement effective communication plans
    • Experience in designing and executing communication strategies
    • Proficient in content editing, ensuring clarity and coherence of written materials
    • Ability to generate creative concepts for a variety of projects
    • Experience in developing and editing creative content
    • Strong command over English language with an engaging grammar style
    • Exceptional writing skills, with an emphasis on clarity, brevity, and accuracy
