We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Medical Billing Specialist in Richmond, Virginia. This role revolves around the healthcare industry where you'll be accountable for managing medical billing processes, patient account balances, and insurance claims. You will be stationed in a medical office environment and your main duty will be to ensure efficient and accurate billing operations.
Responsibilities:
• Efficiently process and review medical claims for completeness, making necessary corrections or additions.
• Maintain accurate records of patient account balances, conducting follow-ups in accordance with practice protocol.
• Research and resolve issues with insurance companies, such as network problems and workers' compensation claims.
• Submit primary and secondary insurance claims electronically each day to ensure prompt reimbursement.
• Handle returned claims, correspondence, denials, account reconciliations, and rebills within a specified timeframe to achieve maximum reimbursement.
• Communicate effectively with third-party representatives to complete claims processing.
• Appeal necessary claims, drafting clear and concise appeal letters.
• Provide pertinent eligibility information related to billing, coding, and insurance carriers.
• Regularly report productivity results.
