We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our client's team, helping to drive financial accuracy and efficiency as they continue to grow.
Position Summary:
The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing the financial operations of the company, with a focus on financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and process improvements. This role is ideal for a Senior Auditor or Senior Accountant with experience in public accounting or industry accounting who is ready for a leadership position in the home building sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and management reports.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee job cost accounting and project profitability analysis, ensuring proper cost allocations.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support business decisions.
- Support cash flow management, bank reconciliations, and financial planning.
- Partner with external auditors, preparing documentation for financial audits and tax filings.
- Work cross-functionally with project managers, sales, and operations to provide financial insights.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting functions.
- Assist in ERP system enhancements and implementation projects related to accounting and finance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or working towards CPA preferred).
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting (audit) or industry accounting with construction or real estate experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and project accounting is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
