We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in the industry of Accounting located in Mukilteo, Washington. Your principal function will be to ensure the smooth operations of all payroll activities, including processing payrolls, managing timesheets, and maintaining payroll tax records.
Responsibilities:
• Managing and updating the payroll module in the financial system, which includes updating data tables, schedules, and leave plans
• Overseeing the web extension timesheets, making necessary updates to hour types or job cost changes, and managing periods for employee time entry
• Accurately processing payroll and preparing direct deposit files, as well as handling manual payroll checks as needed
• Handling payments for garnished wages and child support, ensuring all calculations are correct
• Ensuring compliance with all IRS regulations and the Affordable Care Act by maintaining payroll tax records and issuing W-2 forms
• Reconciling W-2 report from the payroll system to quarterly tax payments and ensuring accuracy
• Developing and maintaining forms and systems for efficient control of payroll records and timesheets
• Maintaining job costing system through accurate data entry and report generation
• Processing payments for employee benefits and federal taxes in a timely manner
• Preparing and submitting quarterly tax reports, performing annual reconciliation of taxes, and entering journal entries into the financial system
• Resolving payroll discrepancies through thorough information collection, research, and analysis
• Implementing payroll actions in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, ensuring all actions are fair and in compliance with agreements.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a related role.
• Proficient in Accounting Software Systems.
• Solid understanding and practical knowledge of Accounting Functions.
• Experience in Auditing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with Tyler Technologies Munis is desirable.
• Knowledge of Family Medical Leave policies.
• Experience in Leave Administration.
• Experience in handling Payroll for Union employees.
• Experience in managing semi-Monthly Payrolls.
