In this role, you will be responsible for creating annual budgets, overseeing the month end close process, providing variance analysis, expense forecasting, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, auditing, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements, facilitating training and development opportunities, tax planning, and overseeing the integration of acquisitions into accounting systems. The ideal Assistant Controller for this role must have knowledge of GAAP, current industry trends, and excellent auditing skills.
Responsibilities:
• Establish and verify the enforcement of internal controls in conjunction with the Controller.
• Coordinate and prepare necessary documents for auditors' requests.
• Provide assistance and respond to inquiries regarding General Ledger analysis.
• Conduct accrual reviews and prepare journal entries.
• Oversee and approve journal entries prepared by others.
• Perform balance sheet and expense analysis.
• Verify cut-off at period-end.
• Coordinate month-end close independently.
• Review monthly financial statements for accuracy and reasonableness.
• Investigate any inaccuracies or imbalances.
• Prepare detailed supporting schedules.
• Conduct operational data analysis.
• Approve disbursements and changes to vendor master file in Controller’s absence.
• Review and approve customer credits in Controller’s absence.
• Handle fixed asset reporting and inventory cost averaging.
• Compile Q-10 Data and conduct year-end Tax Allocation Reporting.
• Maintain and submit monthly and annual U.S. and Canadian Census Reports.
• Develop custom reporting proficiency with SQL and streamline reporting and data retrieval.
• Undertake projects as necessary.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the wholesale distribution industry
• Proficiency in accounting software systems
• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services
• Experience with Concur
• Experience with General Ledger System
