We are partnered with an established CPA firm for a Tax Manager based in Houston, Texas. The role involves managing client projects and assignments in the public sector, providing support, and fostering strong professional relationships. This position operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring extensive communication with clients and the ability to handle complex tax reporting and compliance matters.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee a portfolio of clients, acting as the primary point of contact for client projects and assignments
• Collect necessary information from clients to prepare their income tax returns, collaborating with staff to ensure timely project completion
• Maintain proactive communication with clients throughout the year to meet their needs and expectations
• Conduct tax planning, research, and problem-solving for complex tax reporting and compliance issues
• Represent clients in interactions with the IRS to verify information, resolve notices, and assist with other arising matters
• Review tax returns prepared by associates in detail
• Assist in the preparation of complex tax returns
• Contribute to the training, management, and development of staff members
• Leverage skills in Tax Preparation, Tax Planning Strategies, and Income Tax Compliance to effectively manage client relationships and tax-related tasks.
• Position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Proficiency in Tax Preparation is essential for this role
• Demonstrated experience with Tax Planning Strategies is required
• Must have experience in Income Tax Compliance
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
• Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
• Proficiency in relevant tax software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax codes and regulations
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
