We are offering a contract-to-hire employment opportunity for a Sr. Database Administrator in Greenville, South Carolina. The database administrator will be instrumental in managing the performance, integrity, and security of our databases, leading database strategy, and providing advanced technical expertise to support data management needs.
Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure high availability, performance, and scalability.
• Analyze and optimize database performance through monitoring tools, index optimization, and query tuning.
• Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss and downtime.
• Implement and enforce database security measures in compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
• Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations to minimize service disruptions.
• Collaborate with application developers, analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless data integration across systems.
• Identify and resolve database issues promptly, providing root cause analysis and preventive measures.
• Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation, including configuration, processes, and policies.
• Mentor entry level database administrators and contribute to team knowledge sharing and development.
• 7+ years of experience as a database administrator (or similar)
• Preference for Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent education
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL cloud-based database management.
• Skills in PowerShell are crucial for automating administrative tasks and managing system configurations.
• Ability to work onsite in Greenville, SC is critical
• Experience with Azure tools such as Azure DevOps and Azure Data Lakes are important
• Prior experience in Database Security, monitoring, and password resets is necessary for ensuring data integrity.
• Experience with DB2 is strongly preferred.
• Experience with the ServiceNow Application is preferred for managing incidents and service requests.
