Prominent law firm in downtown Chicago, Illinois seeks a litigation assistant to join a growing group. In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks including administrative duties, document production, court filings, and communication with court staff.
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to efficient office operations through various administrative tasks.
• Draft complex legal documents such as pleadings and correspondence.
• Ensure accurate and efficient preparation of court filings, both traditional and e-filings.
• Develop Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities.
• Accurately prepare responses to propounded discovery.
• Communicate effectively with court staff to resolve various issues.
• Manage outgoing and incoming mail/FedEx for assigned attorneys.
• Maintain and manage calendars for assigned attorneys.
• Prepare Trial Memorandums and schedule all appearances/deadlines.
• Coordinate local and out-of-town depositions and Mediations.
• Scan and upload documents, creating master’s for new files.
• Answer telephones, taking detailed messages and, at the request of attorneys, provide follow up and interaction with clients, outside counsel, and others.
• Proven proficiency in Calendar Management, ensuring effective scheduling and organization of appointments and meetings.
• Exceptional Communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear and concise correspondence with clients and team members.
• Experience handling Certified Mail, including the preparation, sending, and tracking of important legal documents.
• Familiarity with e-Filing procedures, including the electronic submission of legal documents to courts and other legal entities.
