We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager/Supervisor in the heart of Chicago, Illinois. This role is pivotal in the finance sector, where you'll be tasked with managing important accounting functions such as processing financial reports, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit financial reporting standards.
Responsibilities:
• Guide and support the accounting coordinator, providing them with the necessary tools to meet their objectives and deadlines.
• Oversee the creation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, maintaining timeliness and accuracy.
• Uphold compliance with GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards.
• Generate internal financial reports for various stakeholders including the Board of Directors.
• Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are correctly recorded.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, receivables, payables, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Spearhead the annual financial audit and Form 990 preparation.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit tax filings, such as IRS Form 990 and other legal requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of restricted funds and grants, ensuring all requirements are met and reported.
• Develop and implement internal controls to protect assets, ensure the integrity of financial information, and reduce financial risk.
• Continuously review and update accounting policies and procedures to reflect best practices.
• Assign, monitor, and provide training to ensure team excellence.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and receipt of funds.
• Supervise the submission and reconciliation process of expense reports, maintaining accurate financial records.
• Track and account for restricted funds, grants, and donations.
• Collaborate with program teams to ensure accurate financial reporting for restricted grants.
• Contribute to the improvement of policies and procedures for the program or work function.
• Perform other administrative tasks as assigned to support the department and organization in meeting its operational goals.
Salary: $73-97k
