We are offering a permanent employment opportunity for a Payroll Specialist in Chesapeake, Virginia. The role is in the government contracting industry where the selected candidate will be entrusted with a variety of responsibilities, including processing payroll, managing benefits, and onboarding new employees among others.
Responsibilities:
• Accurate and timely processing of payroll
• Onboarding new employees and integrating them into the payroll system
• Balancing and reconciling multiple ERP systems
• Reviewing timesheets for errors and discrepancies, ensuring accuracy
• Effectively communicating with employees and management on payroll-related issues
• Comprehending and implementing multiple state payroll guidelines
• Overseeing payroll benefits, including 401k, pension, and union CBAs
• Processing garnishments, liens (Child Support), and withholdings
• Ensuring adherence to correct payroll tax procedures
• Handling multi-state payroll operations
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in 401k - RRSP Administration.
• Strong understanding and experience with Accounting Functions.
• Experience in managing Benefit Functions.
• Proficiency in ADP - Payroll.
• Experience with Payroll - Union.
• Demonstrated skills in Account Reconciliation.
• Knowledge of Childsupport procedures.
• Experience with Withholdings and Liens.
• Proficiency in handling Multi-state Payroll.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint is required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience in Onboarding new employees.
