We are offering an exciting opportunity in the legal industry in Austin, Texas, 78759, United States. The role is for a Legal Secretary who will be a crucial part of our team, processing client applications, maintaining precise client records, and resolving client inquiries. In addition, monitoring client accounts and taking appropriate action will be an integral part of the role.
Responsibilities
• Maintain and manage attorney calendars by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, dispositions, and travel
• Produce information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics
• Coordinate schedules, draft legal documents, take messages, and answer telephone calls
• Assist in the submission of billable time and reimbursable expenses, preparing invoices, and communicating with clients concerning invoices
• Maintain client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential
• Utilize electronic filing and retrieval systems and supervise file clerks
• Conserve attorneys' time by reading, researching, reviewing, verifying, and routing correspondence, reports, and legal documents
• Represent attorney by communicating and obtaining information; knowing when to act and when to refer matters to attorney
• Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and special projects
• Work under the supervision of the assigned attorney(s) and provide support to the litigation group.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Legal Secretary role
• Proficient in using Aderant legal software
• Proficient in using Adobe Acrobat for document management
• Experience with the Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS)
• Experience with Case Management Software for effective case handling
• Familiarity with CompuLaw for calendar and matter management
• Ability to handle billing functions efficiently and accurately
• Experience in preparing and reviewing legal briefings
• Proficient in calendar management to schedule meetings, court dates, and deadlines
• Excellent client relations skills to liaise effectively with clients
• Knowledge of consumer electronics industry legal regulations
• Experience in handling bankruptcy cases
• Specific experience in Bankruptcy - Chapter 11 cases
• Specific experience in personal bankruptcy cases
• Familiarity with bankruptcy filings and procedures
• In-depth knowledge of the bankruptcy law and code.
