Senior cost accountants should have strong technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems. Companies seek candidates who have at least three years of experience in a specialty, as well as a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. A certification such as a CPA, CGMA or CMA or an MBA is highly valued.
