Security Architect in Tampa, FL

Security Architect Job Description

Security architects design, build, test, and implement security systems within a company’s IT network. These professionals also help the organization to continually refine its IT security infrastructure and approach to protect against hackers, malware, and similar threats. This management-level position requires strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational, and change management skills along with knowledge of the latest security standards, regulations, systems, and authentication protocols. A degree in IT, computer science, or a related field is typically required, and five to 10 years of experience in information security and IT risk management is preferred. For this role, employers often look for candidates with credentials such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Typical security architect duties include:

Performing testing to continuously monitor for and detect suspicious activity Responding quickly to and remediating security incidents, and providing post-event analyses Reviewing current system security measures, and recommending and implementing improvements Planning security architecture changes and developing project timelines for system upgrades
