Communications/Public Relations Director Job Description

The public relations director develops, manages and directs public relations and corporate communications activities. This professional builds relationships with media contacts and works with company executives to create an overall public relations strategy. The public relations director may serve as the chief spokesperson for the firm, helping to mitigate potentially harmful publicity through effective crisis management. This position requires seven or more years of public relations experience, as well as outstanding writing and verbal skills. A journalism or agency background may be preferred.

Overseeing the development of internal and external publications, which may include annual reports, press releases, financial announcements, executive speeches, corporate newsletters, and social media initiativesEstablishing and monitoring the public relations budgetSupervising public relations staff to ensure implementation of initiatives
