3D animators design and animate 3D characters and objects for games, videos, presentations and other creations. In some cases, these professionals are asked to participate in overall story development or game design. Candidates should be versed in a variety of industry-standard applications, including Maya, MotionBuilder, Mudbox, FBX, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Premiere and After Effects. Companies seeking animators with motion design skills may look for Cinema 4D experience and knowledge of common graphic design software. Employers may also require a demo reel or shipped title.
