    Due to a pending retirement, our client is in search of an Associate Director of Finance to join their team located in Ottawa, Ontario. The role revolves around managing the financial operations of the organization, including financial accounting, analysis, reporting, and forecasting. The successful candidate will also have the responsibility of overseeing the Finance Branch employees and managing internal controls in accordance with company policies and legal regulations.

    Responsibilities:

    -Oversee the processing and recording of all financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

    -Manage the overall financial operations, providing insightful analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reports to the executive team.

    -Establish and monitor internal controls, ensuring that accounting activities adhere to established legal, regulatory, and company policies and procedures.

    -Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results for each department, identifying critical financial issues and proposing solutions.

    -Manage the performance of the Finance Branch, fostering a culture of coaching, skills building, and accountability.

    -Coordinate the preparation of working papers and provision of materials to external auditors for the year-end external audit.

    -Monitor and improve existing control systems, and develop new ones as necessary to ensure the smooth running of the financial operations.

    -Handle other related duties as may be assigned, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the finance function

    Qualifications:

    -Must hold a job title of VP/Director of Finance or similar level of seniority in previous roles

    -A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in the finance sector

    -Expertise in Financial Reporting

    -Proficiency in Budgeting and Forecasting

    -Experience in Statutory Reporting is required

    -Familiarity with Accounting procedures is essential

    -A strong understanding of Financial Performance and Internal Control

    -Proficient in creating Consolidated Financial Statements

    -Ability to prepare Financial Statements

    -Must hold a CPA Designation. Experience in the Aboriginal sector and non-profit is highly beneficial.
