We are assisting in the recruitment of a QA Testing Architect for our esteemed client, reporting directly to the CIO of the Edmonton Alberta region. This influential role involves building and refining a comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) strategy from the ground up, ensuring that QA processes, testing practices, and standards meet organizational goals and align with system-wide requirements. The QA Testing Architect will assess existing QA frameworks, identify gaps, and lead the implementation of scalable solutions, while fostering effective collaboration across teams to deliver high-quality results.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Development of QA Strategy
- Build a scalable and adaptable QA strategy tailored to organizational demands and growth.
- Establish and document standards, processes, and best practices for QA and testing activities across systems.
2. Current QA Assessment and Enhancement
- Conduct evaluations of the current QA processes to highlight opportunities for refinement.
- Provide detailed recommendations to enhance QA capabilities and address inefficiencies.
3. Testing Strategy Implementation
- Develop, oversee, and manage testing strategies for key business systems, including customer-facing platforms, enterprise applications, and operational workflows.
- Ensure test cases and scenarios are comprehensive and align with high-quality standards to support organizational requirements.
- Track and document all software inconsistencies or defects as part of robust defect management practices.
4. Collaboration and Leadership
- Analyze project requirements to identify risks, dependencies, and challenges in QA processes.
- Provide direction and mentorship to QA testers and junior team members on best practices and technical solutions.
- Align with project managers, developers, and other teams to ensure QA objectives are integrated into broader deliverables.
- Act as the primary resource for inquiries and updates related to QA activities.
5. Test Execution and Defect Management
- Leverage modern tools to efficiently document, track, and resolve defects and related issues.
- Conduct root cause analyses for identified defects and oversee resolution testing.
- Execute manual test plans to ensure that testing coverage addresses specific business use cases.
- Prioritize effective communication with stakeholders regarding risks, outcomes, and timelines.
6. Continuous Improvement Initiatives
- Track QA performance metrics and regularly present progress reports to senior leaders.
- Champion initiatives that streamline QA processes and make them more efficient without sacrificing quality.
- Ensure the organization stays up-to-date with evolving QA methodologies, technologies, and best practices.
- Contribute to other related tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
Educational Background & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar field.
- Certifications such as ISTQB or CSTE are a bonus.
Professional Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a QA Testing Architect.
- Proven track record of building QA frameworks or departments effectively.
Technical Knowledge:
- Expertise in various testing methodologies (e.g., functional, stress, unit, integration, and UI testing).
- Skilled in QA tools, including test case management and defect-tracking systems like Client ALM.
- Proficiency in security-related concepts such as encryption and access control.
- Familiarity with designing, maintaining, and executing detailed testing plans.
- Competent in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel).
Other Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written), capable of engaging technical and non-technical audiences.
- Eagerness to learn and excel in QA practices.
- Successful completion of background checks (credit, criminal, education, and employment verification).
- Fluent in English, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly.
