Legal administrators in Canada with 1-2 years’ experience play an important role in supporting more senior administrators and lawyers, and helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the legal practice.

Typical legal administrators with 1-2 years’ experience duties:

Provide administrative and legal support to lawyers and the legal team, including: Managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and ensuring deadlines are met. Preparing and maintaining client files electronically and physically. Drafting and formatting basic legal documents (e.g., letters, court filings) following established templates (complexity may vary). Processing legal correspondence (incoming and outgoing mail, email). Assisting with client intake procedures and data management. Manage client communication, including: Responding to client inquiries and requests in a professional and courteous manner (may include some phone calls or emails). Scheduling client meetings and preparing agendas. Manage billing and accounts receivable, including: Preparing legal bills and invoices according to firm guidelines. Processing client payments and following up on outstanding accounts (may vary depending on the firm). Maintaining accurate financial records (may vary depending on the firm).
