Data engineers play a key role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that transforms raw data into usable insights for a Canadian organization. This role leverages technical expertise in data management, programming, and cloud technologies to design, develop, and implement data pipelines that deliver high-quality data for data scientists and business analysts.

Typical data engineer duties:

Design, develop, and implement data pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.

Extract data from various sources (databases, APIs, log files, etc.) and ensure data quality.

Clean, transform, and prepare data for analysis using scripting languages and data manipulation tools.

Build and maintain data warehouses and data lakes for efficient data storage and retrieval.

Automate data pipelines and workflows for efficient and reliable data delivery.

Select and implement appropriate data storage solutions (relational databases, NoSQL databases, data lakes) based on project requirements.

Secure and manage access to sensitive data in accordance with data privacy regulations.
