Typical Operations Analyst job qualifications and requirements

A degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field is required. Experience in financial operations or analytical roles is essential, particularly within a regulated environment.Proven experience in financial services operations, business analysis, or process supportStrong data analysis and reporting skills using tools such as Excel, SQL, or business intelligence platforms (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)Understanding of operational risk, compliance requirements, and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g. APRA, ASIC, AML/CTF)Ability to document, analyse, and map business processes and operational workflowsFamiliarity with financial systems and workflow tools, including CRM, ERP, or trading platformsExperience supporting process improvement, automation, or efficiency initiatives (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma)High attention to detail and strong problem-solving and critical thinking capabilitiesEffective communication and stakeholder collaboration skills across cross-functional teamsSound understanding of financial products and trade lifecycle processes (where relevant)Strong organisational and time management skills in deadline-driven, high-volume environments
