    The Company
My client is a NZ privately owned company in growth mode, with rapid expansion plans both nationally and internationally, capital funding raised and a dynamic team to join which you can be part of.

The company is dynamic in nature with a marketing and tech focus and is looking to scale so this is a rare opportunity to join a company where you can be part of the journey of growth and expansion, all done from Queenstown, NZ. This role can be based in Auckland, initially WFH until they get into a shared space in the future and travelling to Queenstown on say a monthly basis.

    The Role
The role of Finance Manager will report to a very experienced CFO who is willing to mentor and develop you. This is a newly created role and has arisen due to the need for the CFO to continue to focus on more strategic aspects and hand over the day to day running of Finance to this role. This is a very broad role which you can make your own. There is the month end reporting and compliance requirements but what is truly needed is a hands on FM who can own the month end process but really wants to be involved in the business, understanding the operations, driving results and providing insights and influencing decision making through data driven analytics.

You will have the following responsibilities:

    • Reporting - own the month end, year end, and statutory accounts
    • Provide insights and business performance reports for the management and Board, together with commentary on variances, opportunities and recommendations
    • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process
    • Contribute to strategic planning and scenario modelling
    • Business partner operations providing insights, trends and metrics to drive performance
    • Actively seek out opportunities to improve systems, processes and reporting to a standard which will be robust as this business scales
    • Ensure working capital is optimised and the balance sheet is reconciled
    • Ensure all compliance with statutory and tax filing is met
    • Ensure risk management, treasury policies and the like are developed to standards appropriate to the business needs
    • Lead and develop the finance function and with time grow the team size relative to the business growth
    • Support the CFO on ad hoc analysis as required - which may include benchmarking, investor relations, transfer pricing structures, M&A due diligence etc.
    • Other ad hoc duties as required.

    Your profile:
To be considered for this role, we are looking for a dynamic individual who can demonstrate an ability to roll up the sleeves initially to do the day to day work but at the same time as the capability and propensity to step up in the higher level work and grow with the organisation.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

    • A solid grounding in Financial Accounting with strong understanding of an internal controls and reporting standards
    • Preferably CA or equivalent qualified
    • An inquisitive mindset where you like to learn and develop, but also can bring commercial acumen to the role.
    • A proven ability to work alongside non finance people and business partner them to drive better decision making
    • An ability to drive for results
    • An entrepreneurial spirit
    • A willingness to get involved, be hands on but also look for opportunities.

This could be your first role out of CA practice in a business advisory function or equally you maybe looking for a new challenge in the commercial setting.

This company provides hybrid working with a small but close knit team which is expanding fast.
