Key responsibilities of a Senior Software Developer include:Developing robust, maintainable code using modern programming languages and frameworksLeading technical design sessions and contributing to architectural decisionsReviewing code, enforcing coding standards, and ensuring performance and security best practicesCollaborating with stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver effective software solutionsSupporting DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud deploymentsTroubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in development and productionEnsuring adherence to the NZ Privacy Act, ISO 27001, and secure development practicesMentoring junior and intermediate developers and contributing to team capability growth

Senior Software Developer job qualifications and requirements

A degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field is required.Requirements include:5+ years’ experience in software development rolesProficiency in technologies such as .NET, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and related frameworks (e.g. React, Angular)Experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and scalable systemsFamiliarity with cloud environments (e.g. Azure, AWS) and infrastructure as codeStrong knowledge of New Zealand-specific data privacy and cybersecurity obligationsExcellent problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to lead technical discussions and deliver high-quality software across the full SDLC
