The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions that support enterprise goals. This role provides technical leadership, mentors team members, and ensures development practices are secure, scalable, and compliant with New Zealand privacy and cybersecurity standards.

Key responsibilities of a Senior Software Developer include:

Developing robust, maintainable code using modern programming languages and frameworks

Leading technical design sessions and contributing to architectural decisions

Reviewing code, enforcing coding standards, and ensuring performance and security best practices

Collaborating with stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver effective software solutions

Supporting DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud deployments

Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in development and production

Ensuring adherence to the NZ Privacy Act, ISO 27001, and secure development practices

Mentoring junior and intermediate developers and contributing to team capability growth

Senior Software Developer job qualifications and requirements

A degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field is required.

Requirements include:

5+ years’ experience in software development roles

Proficiency in technologies such as .NET, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and related frameworks (e.g. React, Angular)

Experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and scalable systems

Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g. Azure, AWS) and infrastructure as code

Strong knowledge of New Zealand-specific data privacy and cybersecurity obligations

Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills

Ability to lead technical discussions and deliver high-quality software across the full SDLC
